Weekly reflection #2 May 12
Total hours so far: 30/50
This week was another week of learning for me. I got a lot of insight as to how much work is put in by the communications department. I’ve found that creating the Instagram stories takes a lot of time. I use canva to do the sports game updates and the other project I did on alumni parents of the class of 2019. Scott told me that the stories take a long time and that’s why they don't do them. I’m glad I can help and so some of the less important, but beneficial work that the community enjoys. Earlier in the week I went around campus and took pictures of seniors working on their projects. I had fun doing this. For the parent page, I sent out another email for the question of the week but did not get enough responses. I think people were busy on earth day and weren't checking email. I’ve also had to send a lot of mass emails on this project which, as a student, I know gets annoying. On Friday I worked with Scott on publishing my blog posts to the website. He taught me how to format the posts. The first step was resizing images to make it look good visually. I used photos that I had taken and that people had sent me. I learned how to create tags like the “click here to see more ____” that is at the bottom of blog posts. For my senior project blog post, I linked the blogger website where you can see every seniors daily blog. For my concentration blog post, I linked the information page on interdisciplinary concentrations so that people can read more. A lot of work goes into making our website look remarkable and this week I have become more appreciative of the hard work that Scott and the crew put in.
