Weekly Reflection #3 5/19/19 Hours so far: 45/50 This week I learned many things. I learned how to Audit a website. After I had finished my blog post and the parent page Scott came up with some other things for me to do. One of which was an audit of the Proctor website. An audit is going through every page of the website and looking for anything that should be changed. Old photos, videos that could use an update, Links that don’t work etc. This takes a long time but you feel that you are doing something productive. I learned that this how a lot of the work that they do here feels. Overall I have liked what I have been doing here because I feel that I have been productive and have helped the school. This week I felt frustrated sometimes when I couldn’t get responses for various things. My email about the form for the senior class piece did not get enough responses so I had to use my time to go around and tell seniors to fill it out. I also had to make sure I got a diverse gro

Today's hours 9-12. 45/50 total.

Weekly reflection #2 May 12

Total hours so far: 30/50     This week was another week of learning for me. I got a lot of insight as to how much work is put in by the communications department. I’ve found that creating the Instagram stories takes a lot of time. I use canva to do the sports game updates and the other project I did on alumni parents of the class of 2019. Scott told me that the stories take a long time and that’s why they don't do them. I’m glad I can help and so some of the less important, but beneficial work that the community enjoys. Earlier in the week I went around campus and took pictures of seniors working on their projects. I had fun doing this. For the parent page, I sent out another email for the question of the week but did not get enough responses. I think people were busy on earth day and weren't checking email. I’ve also had to send a lot of mass emails on this project which, as a student, I know gets annoying. On Friday I worked with Scott on publishing my blog posts to the web

Day 10 (Friday May 10)

Today I went to the communications department at 9:00am. I worked on stories for the games happening on Friday and Saturday. This ended up taking longer than expected because I gathered images from the Flickr and used canva to produce posts. Then I posted the ones for Friday and worked with Scott on publishing my blog post on senior projects. We had to gather images to and resize them. I learned that there is a lot that goes into publishing the blog posts like coming up with creative titles and putting links in for the photos and other blogs. Today was another productive day. (3 hours) 30/50 hours

DAY 9 May 9

Today I went to the communications department at 9:00am and worked on more stories for the instagram. I finished up the alumni parents story and worked on more for sports events. These will go out tomorrow and on Saturday before games. Then I worked on the parent page and got people to answer the question of the week. for the faculty panel Scott asked me to interview Gavin King, the dance choreographer for the musical. I caught him during rehearsal and we did the interview. Another great day of senior project. (3 hours) 27/50 hours

DAY 8 May 8

I gathered Photos of them from their special instagram accounts, pics they have sent me and Flickr. at 10:00am I went to caitlin and Aidans van and took pictures. Later I worked on the parent page. I spent the weekend at home and was home on Monday. On Tuesday I got back to campus at 11:45. I went to the communications department at 12:00pm. I began working on the blog post for the buzz this week. This week I'm writing about Senior Project 2019. I'm going to update the greater community on what is going on in the lives of seniors on senior project right now. Weekly reflection 1 May 5

This week: 15/50 hours. I have learned a lot this past week interning with the Communications department. My past three years here I have seen Proctor as a school and a place where I live, learn and have friends. This past week I have stepped out of this world and am starting to see Proctor as more a business. The way our school is communicated to the public is extremely important and there are many people that we need to show what’s going on at school to. So far I’ve enjoyed working with the Proctor instagram and producing stories. I feel like my generation are the most skilled people in the world at social media having grown up with it at our fingertips. For me to be able to run it, I feel that I can adequately show the kinds of things students want to see out of their School’s social media.  Along with this I enjoyed working on the parent page. I was able to ask students for the question of the week which I had fun doing. I have done a lot of work this week with Blog posts, Soci

Today I went to the communications department at 9:00am. I finished up my work on the parent page and sent around an email asking for students to do the question of the week. I put up a fun poll on the instagram where I asked people to eliminate their least favorite cereal. tomorrow I will tally up the votes and put the poll up again. by the end only one will remain and that will be the communities favorite cereal. I met with Derek and asked him about the future plans for the interdisciplinary concentration program. I finished up my blog post on this shortly after. Today was another productive day. (3 hours) 12/50 hours
